Lady Francesca Lost -£20
Lady Francesca (33/1 Bet365) Stands out as the one with the form at a price in this Fillies and Mares handicap. Her run behind Eva's Request at Goodwood looks strong form and she is at the right end of the age spectrum to improve again. Her odds are far too high.
Stakes: -
£20 (£10 Each Way) Lady Francesca

Pontefract 4.00
Result: -Laaheb Won +£27.5
Laaheb (5/4 Betfair) a 3yo gelding by Cape Cross from the Michael Jarvis stable looks the one to be on in this handicap and despite having to find something to beat this field he is on an upward trend form wise and that is profile to follow as the flat season comes to a close.
Stakes: -
£25 Laaheb

Bank update £114
Wednesday 23rd
Goodwood 3.45
Result: - Won as a long odds-on shot should.
Twice Over Won +£20
Twice Over (4/7 Betfair ) won earilier in the month at Doncaster and can complete the double in this with Perfect Stride looking the only real danger. I have said previous the Coral Eclipse Stakes form is very strong indeed and Twice Over represents that Group 1 form here in a Listed event. He is a very short price but these should not get near him in my book.
Stakes: -
£50 Twice Over

I have reached a real turning point with this betting blog. I started off with £500 at the begining of August and it has dwindled away before my eyes like sand in an egg timer.

Upon reading other blogs and especially those belonging to people who use/monitor various tipping services it looks as if I'm not the only one with a receding bank balance of late due to a poor selecting process and with some having been dropped or in the process of being dropped by their subscribers it is indeed a tough and ruthless business in which to make your living.

The fact that others are suffering the same or a similar fate is of little consequence to me or to this blog. Something is not working with my selection process and I need to find out what and or why, fast.
To be continued.......

Bank update Sunday 20th £164.
Looking bleak with a 66% bank wipeout.

Sunday 20th
Hamilton 2.40
Result: - Finished 3rd had every chance.
Major Cadeaux Lost -£25
Major Cadeaux (6/4 Betfair) changes stable and goes from one good trainer to another but he is well treated in this Conditions race on old form and can start off on a winning note for his new yard.
Stakes: -
£25 Major Cadeaux

Saturday 19th
Ayr 2.05
Result: - Finished 3rd but not good enough.
Green Manalishi Lost -£25
The Silver Cup will confuse those already unsure about the draw with yesterdays result in the Bronze Cup showing low a numbers bias Green Manalishi (14/1 Bet365) is drawn 11 and if the pace to the race is close, he could stake a big claim in this competitive handicap.
3.10
Result: - Advnced showed for a long way and led but Zidane was never on terms despite his good draw.
Advanced and Zidane Lost -£50
In the Gold Cup Advanced (12/1 Bet365) looks best treated in handicap terms but Zidane (20/1 Bet365) could prove primed for a race like this by the formiddiable James Fanshawe team.

Stakes: -
£25 Green Manalishi
£25 Advanced
£25 Zidane

Newbury 5.05
Result: - Cosmea Lost £-25
Alan King has a good record with his flat runners at Newbury in recent years and can get Cosmea (5/1 Betfair) back to winning ways in this less than competative looking race. His 4yo filly ran very well behind Trachonitis and Dove Cottage at Goodwood recently and runs off the same mark here.
Stakes: -
£25 Cosmea

Bank update Wednesday 16th £264
Thursday 17th
Yarmouth 4.10
Result: - Mystery Star Lost -£25
Close handicap with the 3yo Akmal looking the progressive type and his win in the Melrose Stakes(Hcap) at York looks strong form. Mystery Star (7/1 Betfair) however also looked to run a good race behind Munsef at Chester in a Listed event and despite Keenes Day running a shocker latest I still take the Mystery Star run as the strongest on show and hope Hendersyde does not outstay him late on.
Stakes: -
£25 Mystery Star

Sandown 4.05.
Result: - Won as odds-on shot should win, no fuss.
Bankable Won +£20
Bankable (4/5 Betfair) is the one who will appreciate the rain and with the champion jockey elect in the saddle and a tongue tie re-fitted a return to the winners enclosure for this Mike de Kock offcast looks on the cards.

£25 Bankable

Longchamp 3.40
Result: - Dictated the pace and got a masterly ride from Ryan Moore.
Spanish Moon Won +£45
All eyes are now focusing to the Arc and with Vison D'etats trainer stating that this is no more than a prep' race for the Arc and Spanish Moon (9/2 Betfair) getting more assistance at the stalls in France then a win for the Stoute yard is not impossible here.
-----
Elsewhere on the Longchamp card the impressive Prix de Diane, French 1,000 Guineas, winner Stacelita should get the better of Dar Re Mi in order to maintain her place close to the fore-front in the Arc betting market. The Gosden filly is no slouch and provides a good yardstick to judge the form on.
Result: - Dar Re Mi came and won the race from Stacelita the hard way but then lost it in the stewards room. Sea The Stars will shorten in the Arc market for this showing .

Bath 4.45
Result: - Needs an end-to-end gallop.
Keenes Day Lost -£25
Keenes Day (5/2 Betfair)can land this staying handicap for Mark Johnston after giving a good account of himself at Chester behind Munsef last time out. Raslan the ex-Mark Johnston horse and now with David Pipe could refind his flat form and run well again after his recent fortunate win over timber. The National Hunt season is on the way judging by the amount of that codes runners being entered in races of late.

Stakes: -
£20 Spanish Moon
£25 Keenes Day

Saturday 12th
Doncaster 3.00
Result: - Held-up, closed, checked on run to the line.
Mourayan Lost -£25
Last Classic of the flat season and despite the withdrawls we should be in for competitive race all the same. The John Oxx trained Mourayan (15/2 Betfair) is my choice to continue his trainers fine record with 3yo runners in this country. Mourayans run behind Fame And Glory in the Irish Derby looks the form to follow and coming from the same stable as Sea The Stars and Alandi his trainer would have plenty of yardsticks to gauge his level of ability and given Alandi is running in the Irish version at 3.20 could this be the start of a Currabeg double Ledger?

Curragh 3.20
Result: - Never looked a threat.
Profound Beauty Lost -£25
This contest looks so close that a three-way dead-heat would not suprise me.
I think with the ground drying out Profound Beauty (5/1 Betfair) may sneak it from the exceptionally talented Yeats and the Godolphin owned 6yo Schiaparelli
Stakes: -
£25 Mourayan.
£25 Profound Beauty.
£5 win double (Profound Beauty and Mourayan) Win Double Lost -£5

Thursday, September 10

Bank update Thursday 10th £304
Friday 11th
Doncaster 2.40
Result: - Came there looking a threat then faded tamely.
Geordieland Lost -£25
The 8yo Geordieland (6/4 Betfair)has the best profile and can continue his good form of this season with a win here after playing 2nd fiddle to Septimus last season in this race.
Stakes: -
£25 Geordieland.

Wednesday, September 9

Bank Update Wednesday 9th £329.00
Thursday 10th
Tipperary 4.25
Result: - Led, headed and faded in the home straight.
Latin Love Lost -£25
Going to Tipperary for what looks a race to savour and Latin Love (9/4 Betfair) with Johnny Murtagh riding can find winning ways after a very promising run behind the one time 2008 Oaks favorite Chinese White. This represents a drop in Class and the distance should also help her cause.
Stakes: -
£25 Latin Love

Tuesday, September 8

Bank Update Tuesday 8th £338.00
Wednesday 9th
Doncaster 3.10
Result: - Twice Over Won +£16
Twice Over (5/6 Betfair) represents the Coral Eclipse form of this year and as I have stated in earlier posts that the form from that particular looks well worth following and despite Twice Over looking to run a poor race there I still think he has enough in hand here to see off the frustrating mare Sweet Lilly.

Epsom 3.55
Result:- Tried to steal this from the front but was found wanting. Kaleo Lost -£25
Kaleo (5/2 Betfair) won over course and distance in a claiming race last month for Simon Dow and this former Group race runner should be able to follow up now he has his confidence restored. Darrell Holland rides and despite hitting the cross-bar alot on his recent mounts seems to have recovered from his recent bout of flu. The Dow stable were in terriffic form in August and already in the winners circle this month.
Stakes: -
£25 Twice Over
£25 Kaleo

Bank Update Saturday 3rd £338.00 Saturday 5th Kempton 3.10
Result: - Tried to dominate from the front but faded.
Vainglory Lost -£10
Godolphin have the $400,000 Musleh in great form and this well related C&D winner looks the one they all have to fear in this handicap but he is a shortish price and could find this climb more difficult than his latest sorties on this track. Dave Simcock has his string in very good form as well and Vainglory (16/1 Betfair) could be a surprise winner in this series final. Leopardstown 3.50
Result: - Sea The Stars is a true Champion and proved just too good for this high class field and this race was a brilliant education for all concerned as he was bustled mid-race but Sea The Stars took it all in his stride and left them for dead with pure speed in the straight off a strong looking pace. The going was firmer than the expected "soft" according to his trainer in the post-race interview and the "good to firm in places" reported by the Leopardstown ground keeper last Monday looks less of a joke now. The Arc surely awaits! I have a habit of giving a horse a visual rating in a race and then looking at the time of the race afterwards. Here Sea The Stars was up against the Irish Derby winner Fame And Glory and Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Mastercraftsman, both were so easily disposed of and given the winner was never touched by his rider I easily award the race a 10/10.
Sea The Stars Won -£20
Sea The Stars (10/11 Betfair) is a "likely" runner states the Racing Post and if that is the case then the Oxx colt is on a mission to prove his worth on soft to heavy going and at 10/11 he should be laid and his 13/2 odds (Betfair) for the Arc backed. The reason being if he allays his trainers concerns about performing on soft going and beats Fame And Glory then his Arc price will collapse. There has been much written about Sea The Stars but he has clocked some very fast times this year and as has been said many times the clock doesn't lie and based on the times he recorded I believe he has the ability to win the Arc. Lets hope he doesn't meet his Waterloo on Saturday!
Stakes: -
£10 Vainglory
£20 Lay Sea The Stars (Irish Champion Stakes. Price 10/11)
£5 Win Sea The Stars (Arc De Triomphe Price 13/2)

Stakes: -
£23.75 The Betchworth Kid

Bank update Tuesday 1st £294.00

Wednesday 2nd No Bet for today

Continuing on into September with the same bank from August. Hoping things pick-up as my results were less than inspiring! As before all bets are to win unless otherwise stated.
Bank update Tuesday 1st £294
Tuesday 1st Ripon 3.30
Result: - Ran 3rd. Going changed to Good-to-Soft from Good before this race.
Jeer Lost -£10
Mick Easterby has Jeer (25/1 Betfair ) down at the right end of the weights and like so many at Sheriff Hutton he could well show improvement for the addition of the tongue strap. Won his maiden over course and distance when with Ed Dunlop. He also won a Class 3 handicap at HQ last May off 85 but runs off a lowly 70 here. Has all the hallmarks!
Stakes: -
£10 Jeer
